The Biggest UK Steampunk Gathering happened this weekend with the 2nd Annual Weekend at the Asylum gathering taking place in Lincoln.

It is a year since the first Asylum saw my sudden appearance on the steampunk scene, and what a fun year it has been! This year’s event was much larger and took place over a number of venues. I spent most of the Saturday morning wandering around trying not to miss anything before I resigned myself to the fact that I was going to anyway!

Highlights this year included meeting old friends, making new friends, being asked to give a short talk at the Mad Scientist’s Workshop, Ballroom Dancing with Esme Moore at the Second Annual Empire Ball, Kit Cox’s talk about hunting mythical Victorian monsters, suffering from “Moustache Envy” (A rare experience for me!), busking saxophone show tunes with Rachel Hayward, meeting Robert Rankin again and visiting his exhibition in a nearby museum.
