The Future Station Festival at Metal on Edgehill Station has started.
The festival is a combination of exhibition and performance and I went to the opening of the exhibition and launch of the Festival last night.
I am featuring my first ever sculpture in the Exhibition – Hat-Stand-Off. It went down very well! It is the first time I have exhibited anything so I am very proud!
The other pieces are gorgeous and interesting. I am particularly fond of Phil Lockhart’s mathematical solids and Tony Garner’s collage of objects forming a picture of Edgehill Station and The Rocket. Adrian Jeans is working casting on a very large sculpture. He has a large clay model from which he will make the cast, which looks amazing! I also really liked Barbara Galt sculptures made of hand casts and Jane Hughes’ drawings of the life of the shops on Wavertree Road. Terry Eagles also asks us to think about our desire to discover the unknown by exhibiting a mysterious locked and rusted safe for which the keys have been long lost.
Even more visual treats can be found up the stairs. Fascinating sculptures by Mark Tierney. Fun interventions by Jodie Mellor, vibrant paintings by Kenny Thomas and Jenny Porter. A thought provoking object collage by Elena Skensburg. And photographs from the “Secret Garage†where Maxwell Hornby has recreated a sixties real ale pub in his own garage. Plus knitted, crocheted and sewn decorations throughout the gallery from Chelsie Lewis.
I am looking forward to the 13th November when the main performance based events take place! Expect Brass Bands, Crazy Experiments, Music, Dance, Film and Theatre.
