IDAHO

Brox and I attended Liverpool City Council’s and the Liverpool LGBT Network’s IDAHO celebration today in the Town Hall.

IDAHO is the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. It is celebrated annually on the 17th May, to commemorate the World Health Organisation’s decision to remove homosexuality from the list of mental disorders.

There were lot’s of great stalls, familiar and friendly faces. We got to meet the Lord Mayor and have tea, sandwiches and cakes in the ball room! This was followed by speeches about the long way we have come we have come for equality and attitude. It is still very sad to hear that some countries, even today, criminalise homosexuality and a small number actually have the death penalty. Shocking. Get over it! It’s really not such a big deal the gender of who you love!

This was a marvellous afternoon and afterwards Louise Baldock gave us a tour of the Council Chamber and I got to sit on the Lord Mayor’s Chair!

The Lord Mayor expects and demands my presence
